Time swiftly flies. June 29, 2009 marks the 10th founding anniversary of the Loving Presence Foundation, Inc. I remember 10 years ago when the 12 civic oriented individual mostly local Rotarians gathered together and organized Loving Presence Foundation to take care of the needs of Persons with Disabilities. The founding of Loving Presence Foundation was inspired by Gerard Rikken and by the spiritual advices of former Bislig Parish Priest Fr. Narciso Coralde.
It was started with a small contribution from the 1st 10 corporate members and I was one of them together with some honorary members like Former Mayor Florencio Garay ( now Congressman 2nd District).
The foundation then implemented activities related to special education, medical and surgical outreach, skills and livelihood training. Survey of persons with disabilities had been the concentration of the foundation at that time.
The major program - Community Based Rehabilitation Project takes place in the year 2002 with the Christoffel Blindenmission International as fund donor. The grand take-off of the CBRP was then characterized by marvelous accomplishments in line with the social welfare and health services in Bislig and now carried out in the whole Caraga Region. The foundation was then very popular because of the humanitarian services it has offered to the comunity.
Now the foundation covers the entire Caraga with its four satellites offices to expedite faster and more comprehensive response to the community.
It’s just so marvelous to see how the foundation grew and leaps and bounds from its humble beginning. Right now it is truly strong foundation working for the poor PWDs. It has indeed been made a decade of worthwhile service to Special Children and Youth in Caraga.
I’d like to take this opportunity to extend my heartfelt thanks to the CBM, FACSPS, CFPI, LFP, LGUs, POs, NGOs, all , personal friends, corporate members, and all other partners for the support extended. The foundation would not have been able to make a difference in the life of disables persons and their families without your support and concern.
